Swami Chinmayananda in his foreward to the original Malayalam text writes:

"Though the spiritual path is very harsh like the edge of a knife, by continuous practice it becomes like a silken bed. The means by which the path becomes easy to travel are described in this book under the pretext of a journey to Kailas."
