It is a priceless collection of images, letters, anecdotes, and teachings captured while the author was ‘on the road’ with Swami Chinmayananda, from 1961 to 1993. The series is written by Anjali Singh, who corresponded and travelled extensively with Swamiji, taking countless photos and keeping detailed notes after each encounter.

This book covers the years 1988 to 1991. Anjali writes about memorable events in India, Nepal, the Far East, and Europe, including receiving boons that Swamiji had granted her. She ‘cashed’ one such boon by requesting, and getting, some rare close-up photographs of Swamiji’s eyes — without his glasses. She also recounts how deeply Swamiji touched people’s lives, as when an agnostic person attending a discourse by Swamiji declared: “I have found God! I have found God! I have seen God today!!”

Who else but Swamiji could lift a person’s mind by using cashew nuts and horse carts as his teaching vehicles or explain the stages of spiritual growth through cooking? And when the author asked Swamiji why he had given her a D-minus for the sambar she had cooked, he replied: “You have to be born in Kerala for that.” Anjali then learnt what Swamiji meant by ‘Kerala’. He was not referring to the physical location. He was giving her a great lesson in Vedanta, about which the author has written in this book.
