An investigation into the Nature of the Mind with a range of tips and tools to tame the Monkey within !!

It is not with unnoticed irony that the Seers of India have likened the human mind to a monkey.

For even as man has evolved and progressed in the outer world, his inner world remains largely fettered by primitive instincts and self-limiting tendencies, thus preventing him from rising to his true potential, from social animal to transcendental being.

Indeed, this mysterious, made to tease mind while serving as the medium of all activity in the universe, is also the membrane that obstructs man from recognizing and expressing his inherent divinity.

For dedicated seekers of Truth, Swamiji's advice constitutes more than just a metaphorical leash; it is a veritable lifeline to true living.

About the Author

Swami Swaroopananda

Swami Swaroopananda is the current Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, taking on the mantle in January 2017. He also serves as Chancellor of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Chinmaya University) and oversees more than 350 Chinmaya Mission Centres worldwide.

Raised in a lively, creative family, his early interests straddled business and economics, yet he was drawn deeply toward spiritual seeking. The clarity of Swami Chinmayananda’s commentary on the Bhagavad Gita captured his heart, leading him to join the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK), the youth wing of the Mission.  He entered the Residential Vedanta Course in Mumbai under Swami Tejomayananda’s guidance and in 1992, he was initiated into sannyasa, receiving the name Swami Swaroopananda.

From early service in the Far East, including in Hong Kong and the South East Asian region, he has blended reverence for traditional Vedanta with relevance to today’s world. Under his leadership, the Mission has expanded its reach in youth work, education, family camps and spiritual outreach. He is the visionary behind the “Make It Happen™” course, a life-transforming programme that has empowered thousands worldwide to break limitations, unlock inner strength and translate dreams into reality.

With his unique blend of Vedantic wisdom and practical guidance, Swamiji inspires us not just to think of change but to make it happen in our health, our work, and our spiritual growth. In addition he has authored several books, including Storm to Perform, Ik Onkar and Journey into Health.

Swami Swaroopananda is known for bringing Vedanta into everyday life with insight, compassion and energy. Whether speaking with students, professionals, or spiritual seekers across cultures, his message is practical and transformative. As both teacher and guide, he continues to carry forward the lineage upholding the clarity, devotion and service that has always defined Chinmaya Mission.
